17th & Granville Press Kit

17th & Granville is deeply committed to empowering BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, including creating intentional spaces and opportunities for community to feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Through our work, we focus on raising awareness and fostering inclusivity by:

1. Representation in Design: Our apparel and accessories highlight themes that resonate with both communities, celebrating individuality, cultural pride, and geek culture through designs that empower and inspire.

2. Community Engagement: We actively collaborate with BIPOC creators, artists, and entrepreneurs to amplify their voices and share their stories, creating a stronger sense of community and visibility.

3. Event Presence: At events centered around community, we aim to provide a welcoming space where community and allies can connect, celebrate their shared interests, and feel included in a positive environment.

4. Content and Conversations: Beyond products, we use our platform to highlight topics relevant to the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities—whether through social media, blogs, or partnerships with organizations that share our vision for inclusivity.

We have a variety of apparel and accessories that celebrate Pride, Black Excellence, Women Empowerment, and Self Love: tops, bottoms, overalls, hats, jackets, bandanas and socks.

Team

  • Anissa "Donny" Truitt

    Founder/Owner

As a non-binary/gender-fluid techie and entrepreneur, I've had many experiences navigating fashion for comfort and overall expression. Passionate about my identity as a Black and Queer person, I decided to create something that empowered the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community. Something that allowed us to reclaim our stories and tell them from our point of view. From lived experiences, I create positive imagery and messaging on clothing for the community. I want to highlight how we need more representation in the fashion industry. Still, I also want to promote conversation between the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. The opportunities for education to help spread awareness and garner support are endless. This is just a start toward making a difference, building relationships, and strengthening communities.

17th & Granville x Queer Talk DC: Supporting DMV Dyke Camp We were proud to partner with Queer Talk DC for their DMV Dyke Camp—an unapologetically queer, sapphic-centered weekend of community, joy, and radical rest. In support of the event, 17th & Granville donated curated swag bags filled with notebooks, pens, and our signature sapphic bandanas—designed to affirm identity, ignite connection, and carry a little softness wherever they go. As a brand committed to holding space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks, this partnership was a natural alignment of values. DMV Dyke Camp isn’t just an event—it’s a declaration of belonging. We're honored to contribute to spaces that center queer voices and create room to breathe, build, and just be.

Partnering with Gallaudet University’s Rainbow Society for Queer Prom Rodeo 2025 This May, 17th & Granville proudly partnered with Gallaudet University’s Rainbow Society to support their annual Queer Prom—this year with a bold Rodeo twist. In celebration of self-expression, community, and unapologetic joy, we donated a selection of our signature bandanas and socks for the event raffle, bringing comfort, color, and queer visibility to the dancefloor. Gallaudet’s Queer Prom has long been a safe, affirming space for LGBTQ+ students and allies to gather, celebrate identity, and express themselves freely. As a queer and nonbinary-led brand rooted in equity and representation, supporting this event aligns deeply with our mission to create clothing and experiences that uplift and empower marginalized communities. We’re honored to stand with Rainbow Society in amplifying queer voices and ensuring every student feels seen, celebrated, and supported—whether in boots, heels, or socks.

17th & Granville is proud to have partnered with the University of Vermont’s Prism Center to support their recent Clothing Swap—an event focused on self-expression, identity, and gender affirmation through fashion. Held on March 19th, the Clothing Swap created an affirming and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students and community members to explore their style and update their wardrobes with confidence. In support of this mission, 17th & Granville donated brand-new clothing to help make sure everyone had access to pieces that feel good and reflect who they are.
