We make clothes you don't have to explain.

What We're About

17th & Granville is a Black-owned, LGBTQ-owned, nonbinary-led clothing brand founded in Waldorf, Maryland by Anissa "Donny" Truitt. We're certified by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce as an LGBT Business Enterprise.

We make gender-free apparel in sizes XS to 5X. Soft fabric, no gendered sizing, nothing that requires a decision at the door about which section you belong in.

Most of what we make is meant to be worn on an ordinary Tuesday, not just in June.

Why It Matters

Everything we make has to pass one test. Can you wear it without thinking about it?

  • ProtectionPieces that work at a protest, at work, and at your grandmother's house.
  • RepresentationDesigns made by people who share the experience, not people researching it.
  • CommunityMoney moving back to where it came from.

Giving Back - Our Circle of Care

A portion of every purchase goes to BIPOC-led and LGBTQ+-led businesses, mutual aid funds, and grassroots work on housing, healing, and justice.

We publish where it goes.

The Founder

Meet Anissa "Donny" Truitt (She/They)

Donny, founder of 17th and Granville, standing in front of a rainbow background.

Black, queer, nonbinary, and born into a world where nothing ever quite fit.

After years in tech leadership, Donny started 17th & Granville because the brand she wanted didn't exist.

17th is for the birthdays on her mother's side. Granville is a name from her father's. The A-train to Far Rockaway is home. All of it in one.

Donny is the sole owner of 17th & Granville, which makes it a Black-owned, queer-owned, and nonbinary-owned business.
